Job Description


Division/Department: Finance and Accounts Department

Reporting to: Finance and Accounts Department Manager

Job summary : 

She is responsible for posting, journalizing, and consolidating the Accounting activities of the company.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Verifies the correctness and timeliness of classified, coded, and journalized entries and approves them for posting.
  • Ensures that administrative expenses, per-diem, allowances, and other expenses are paid as per the approved budget.
  • Verifies the correctness of expense accounts and checks various accounting statements for accuracy in each business unit.
  • Checks the correctness of payroll and various payroll deductions at each business lines
  • Ensures all deductions, from payroll, are paid on time.
  • Prepare Income Tax, Withholding Tax, and Pension report as per Inland Revenue authority Format and pay within the ten days of the next month
  • Gives explanations to internal and external audit inquiries.
  • Ensures the updating of staff statements of accounts.
  • Handles any other inquiries related to the activities of the Department.
  • Analyzes all ledger cards and passes correcting entries.
  • Checks signs and dates cash book and ascertain their correctness.
  • Follow-up timely collection of bank statements and advice; ensures that such statements are reconciled with own records and personally handles large and complex cases.
  • Verifies the correctness of the monthly trial balance in addition to pre-closing and post-closing trial balance; passes year-end adjustments, opening, and closing entries.
  • Prepares financial statements of the company.
  • Assists the Department Manager in the preparation and review of annual budgets and periodic progress reports.
  • Evaluates the performance of subordinate employees in the Department.
  • Performs other related duties when required.
  • Update and maintain a fixed asset register
  • Establish and maintain cash controls
  • Take and maintain everyday finance data backup
  • Post payroll and all related taxes using a payroll control system
  • Ensure that petty cash is managed as per the rules and procedures of the organization.
  • Participate in annual planning and budgeting processes.

Qualification

  • Degree in Accounting/ Accounting and Finance/ Financial Management or related discipline and 8 years of relevant experience preferably in cost and budget accounting.
  • worked at a bottling and food manufacturing company
