Job Description


Job Summary

The Educational support officer provides one-to-one and group educational assistance to elementary, secondary and college level students. The professional will be helping children and young adults,  in all levels, improve and develop their overall educational performance with the center of focus being children’s’ advancement in the understanding of subject matters and their general skill to grasp and achieve better in their respective classes.   The responsibility of the Educational Support Officer may extend from helping children with basic skills of reading and writing to tutoring them in all subjects where English, math, science, physics, chemistry, and other related subjects might be given higher importance, as needed. Generally, the officer will be a full time staff, with working hours being adjustable as per the school hours and periods of the students under discussion. Educational Support Officers, generally, are invested in the overall educational provision system of the organization where this includes, but not limited to, private/group tutorial services and educational support to children in family homes, providing regular classes to students in governmental institutions, development of manuals and guidelines to monitor the services, communication with formal and informal educational facilities like schools, colleges and child care institutions where teens and young adults in the program attend, plan and execute educational programs and campaigns…etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with students to improve their school performance with special focus on subjects each child has difficulties.
  • Prepare lessons, assignments, work sheets and tests with a routine follow up for timely correction of performance gaps.
  • Track and evaluate students’ progress and discuss results with students, parents and/or respective house managers/social workers
  • Identify students’ individual learning needs and report back for follow up
  • Regularly communicate and work together with all parties (individuals, groups or organizations) involved in the process of formal and informal education of children under care.
  • Plan and conduct formal and informal learning events, campaigns, trips, experience sharing opportunities, trainings…etc.
  • Design and develop related materials to help the smooth implementation of the above listed activities. Some of these documents are expected to influence and guide the student teacher and other related relationships. This includes

Job Requirement

  • Teachers who are actively working and qualify the national requirement for their level of performance (Elementary, High School and College Level)
  • All teachers must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in their respective careers.
  • Teachers with the background of subjects like math, physics, chemistry and English are given priority
  • Experience in tutorial service and flexibility to work on different working hours and weekends is advantageous

Essential Skills

  • Concrete English language skills (Speaking, reading and writing)
  • Up-to-date knowledge of learning theories, techniques and resources.
  • Recognizable skill to present lessons in an interesting manner where it attracts children’s attention
  • Good character to encourage, motivate and influence children to good behavior.
  • Acceptance and adoptability to work with vulnerable children who might have difficult background and challenging behavior
  • Organization skill to conduct multiple tasks at a time and also communication skill to discuss follow up and report back students’ progress to/with students themselves, parents, social workers and/or all who are involved in the life and development of the child.
