Job Description

Following its first facility in Uganda, Raxio now has presence in Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Mozambique, and it will continue developing additional facilities to establish a network of interconnected data centres across the Africa continent by 2023.Reporting to: General Manager – Ethiopia

Job Summary:

 Oversee the general accounting operations of Raxio Data Centre in Ethiopia by controlling and verifying the financial transactions of the Company.

Location: Addis Ababa

Detailed Description

  • Manage the revenue cycle by ensuring customers are invoiced monthly and accurately and all receipts are collected in time.
  • Manage the purchasing cycle by ensuring purchase orders are provided to suppliers and ensuring payments to suppliers are as per the purchase orders.
  • Verify, post, and reconcile all accounts payables and receivables.
  • Verify and post all monthly accounting transactions, including accruals, and produce error-free accounting reports every month end.
  • Prepare month-end balance sheet reconciliations and submit the Trial Balance checklist to the VP Finance every month.
  • Prepare and process monthly payroll for Company employees and ensure all statutory requirements (PAYE, POEP) are filed and paid before deadlines.
  • Ensure all fixed assets of the Company are tagged and accounted for accurately, including disposals.
  • Recommend enhancements to accounting systems and procedures.
  • Assist in financial standards setting and in forecast process.
  • Assist with statutory tax returns and statutory audits.
  • Always ensure compliance with IFRS.
  • Assist the VP Finance and the Group CFO on any projects that may be requested from time to time.

Required/Desired Qualifications and Background

  • Proven experience as a general accountant or in a similar role.
  • Adequate knowledge of basic accounting procedures.
  • Adequate understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Ability to learn and understand business trends.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close process.
  • Monthly reporting in line with group policies.
  • Hands-on experience with a well-known accounting software package, preferably Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Experience working with an international group.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills.
  • Self-starter, ability to work under pressure and embrace continuous learning and development.
  • University Degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant.
  • Working towards a relevant certification (e.g. CA or CPA) will be a plus.
