Summary

 The Senior Sales Manager will be responsible for driving profitable growth in the Africa regions by developing and managing relationship with the various customers within this region, while bringing new opportunities to the business, both for new Hydro plants such as PSP Pumped Storage Hydro and for retrofits/repower of existing units. 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Have accountability for commercial growth and achieving financing target within the Region
  • Manage key customer strategy for the regional customers
  • Develop and strengthen customer relationship, increasing customer touch time and intimacy
  • Be the primary point of contact within Europe for your customers, owning account planning and communication strategy, both for Large/New and Services
  • Provide leads and customer intelligence, sharing information and best practices
  • Be the customer advocate inside GE, bringing their voice to the business and ensuring that we act in a customer centric manner
  • Keep SalesForce.com updated and feed the business with precise information about upcoming deals, advising early of timing and specific needs
  • Bring opportunities to the business in an organized and thorough way, so that we have enough time to react accordingly
  • Be a leader in the cultural change, having an open mindset and driving customer centric behavior within the organization
  • Embrace Digital, be a supporter for the GE Digital initiatives and promote Digital with your customers
  • Promote the GE Store, helping other GE businesses to be effective with your customers leveraging your network and relationships
  • Collaborate with GGO, Account Executives, and other P&L sales team to provide excellent customer coverage
  • Represent Hydro at key Power and Renewable Energy events
  • Work with absolute integrity and full adherence to the Ethics and Compliance rules
  • Respect the EHS guidelines and promote safe and adequate behavior within and outside the company

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Marketing or Business from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 12-15 years of experience in industry-related engineering, Sales & Client Management, Commercial Operations, project management and/or marketing.
  • Must have knowledge of the Energy/Grid/Hydro or Renewable Energy in East Africa or SSA region
  • Significant wing-to-wing commercial acumen threading applications, contractual ops, aftermarket processes
  • Significant technical sales experience into multi-layered outcome sales to C-Suite

Desired Characteristics

  • Ability and willingness to travel 50% of the time, as required
  • Fluent in English,
  • Knowledge of French language is a plus
  • Experience effectively working in and managing a matrix environment and across different cultures
  • Experience with contract negotiation, terms and conditions
  • Ability to drive positive change in an organization
  • Be more than a Salesperson, be a Businessperson with broad and deep understanding of the commercial cycle – including product line / marketing / sales / commercial operations / engineering
  • Strong interpersonal and financial skills
  • Strong presentation skills at the executive level
  • Customer, service and solution driven mindset
