Project Description

FAST Has 3 Anticipated Intermediate Results (IR)

The purpose of the USAID/Ethiopia Food and Agriculture Systems Transformation (FAST) Activity is to increase access to healthy diets, particularly for women and children, by improving competitiveness, inclusiveness, and resilience of the Ethiopian food and agriculture system.

  • IR1: Increased availability of safe, diverse, nutritious foods
  • IR2: Increased incomes in the food and agriculture sectors
  • IR3: Increased convenience and desirability of safe, diverse, nutritious foods

There Are Also 4 Anticipated Sub-Intermediate Results (SIR)

  • SIR1: Food and agriculture supply better aligned with market demand
  • SIR2: Increased food safety and quality
  • SIR3: Increased entrepreneurship and employment in the food and agriculture sectors
  • SIR4: Increased partnership between the public and private sectors to advance key social priorities

Position Description

RTI is seeking a Food Environment Lead for Ethiopia FAST. The Food Environment Lead will be responsible for overseeing activities related to the food environment including market access, food quality and safety, and employment and entrepreneurship. This position will be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and will report to the Deputy Chief of Party – Technical.

Position is contingent upon award and funding.

 

Your primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Serves as the technical lead for all activities in the Food Environment pillar in areas such as market access, food quality and safety, employment generation, and entrepreneurship.
  • Manages the work of Food Environment Officers across regional offices.
  • Supports local partners and grantees carrying out activities under the Food Environment pillar.
  • Liaises with other donor-funded initiatives to build synergies and share lessons learned and best practices.

Required Skills And Qualifications

  • Master’s degree and 10 years of experience working on food environment activities, or a Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated skills in building, mobilizing, and leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, and with multiple concurrent demands.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to resolve sensitive and complicated work issues with senior high-level country counterparts, donor representatives, and senior-level staff.
  • Experience working in Ethiopia preferred.
  • Ethiopian citizens/nationals are strongly encouraged to apply.
