Send a Cow Ethiopia has a legal ground to operate in Ethiopia having been registered with Charities and Societies Agency as foreign charity with registration No. 0638. Currently, the charity is operating in Amhara and SNNP regions.

Overall Purpose of the Job

The Senior Finance and Admin officer’s main responsibility is to handle all financial transactions, cash management and administrative matters of project office in Dawuro Zone for effective delivery of services in line with SAC’s Cornerstones and development approaches. This will be through coordination of efforts and management of resources to implement financial and admin activities outlined in the project document. The Senior finance and admin
officer is responsible for leading, managing and supporting finance and admin staff team on the ground. He/she is also responsible to build staff and partners capacity in the area of finance and admin to provide effective and timely services for effective and result orientated program. The post holder will work to support technical staff in line with improving lives of resource poor households targeted by the project and their families. A key role of the successful candidate is to build the capacity of finance and admin staff so that program implementations are easily facilitated to bring sustainable change in the project communities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. To ensure project level day-to-day financial transactions are timely effected with proper records, filed and protected for further utilization
2. To ensure that human resources at project level are correctly managed and motivated for effective delivery of project activities
3. To ensure all properties of SAC Ethiopia project are properly recorded and managed at project level for effective utilization
4. To ensure project staff information is properly recorded and filed in secure and safe manner with copies at Head Office level
5. To ensure all project level material and service procurements are timely and correctly effected in line with organizational rules and government regulations
6. To ensure project office is properly managed for a neat and sound working environment
7. To ensure timely, regular and quality financial and administrative reports are submitted to head office as per organizational requirement
8. To play full and active role as a member of project implementing team and involve in developing strategy, plan and overall budget at project level.
9. To Undertake other assignments and delegations given by the project coordinator and Finance and Admin manager in the interest of the work of the organization

Person Specifications

Essential

• Educational qualification of MA or BA in Finance and Accounting or related fields from recognized University
• Minimum of 4 years for MA and 6 years for BA experience in accounting and financial management
• Experience of leading, supporting, inspiring and coaching finance and admin team in the context of rural development
• Experience in material and service procurement and management
• Experience in managing financial audit in line with government and donor requirements
• Experience of team motivation and generating results
• Experience of organizing and conducting trainings and workshops at different levels
• Strong understanding of accounting and financial management
• Experience of generating financial information and effective report writing
• Experience of project budget development
• Experience of working across cultures and religions
• Experience of living and working under difficult and challenging environments.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
• Ability to analyse information, prevailing situation, evaluate options, and plan strategically
• Very good level of spoken and written English
• Knowledge of local languages (Dawurogna) is a plus
• Excellent level of computer literacy
• Demonstrated willingness to live and work at district (Woreda) level
