Duties and responsibilities:-

• Periodically review the hazards identified and risks assessed, including the results of occupational hygiene measurements and medical surveillance, to determine whether further elimination, control and minimization of risk is possible;
• Supervise and directs companies involved in Mining and energy
• Conduct Pre-feasibility study & prepare ToR for identified business in collaboration with Business planning and research department in mining and energy investments.
• Ensure occupational health and safety guidelines are followed, which includes planning and overseeing maintenance of the mine and developing emergency response plans.
• Examine maps, deposits, drilling locations, or mines to determine the location, size, accessibility, contents, value, and potential profitability of mineral, oil, and gas deposits. Supervise, train, and evaluate technicians, technologists, survey personnel, engineers, scientists or other mine personnel.
• Provide technical advice and training for all involved TUMSA’s companies in all minerals in the areas of mining exploration, extraction/engineering, mining processing, environmental management, mining project evaluation and related issues.
• Planning future mine production, overseeing the development and tunneling of the mine, checking the quality of stone, rock and minerals and inspecting the mine for danger.
• Develop investment modality that engages local community and Facilitate linkages to invest with community participation and to benefit them from mining of minerals; (Gold, coal iron ore tantalum etc…).
• Provides training to local community and ensure the sustainability investment mining sector through environmentally friendly investment approach.
• Develop partnership proposal to invest with foreign and local investors in joint venture.
• Conduct prefeasibility study & expansion in mining sector in collaboration with planning and business research section of Tumsa and bring for decision to management.
• Perform other duties as assigned by mining and energy sector general manager.

Reports to:  Mining and Energy sector

 Requirements: Education, Experience, Special Skill/Training:-

•  BSc, degree or above from recognized University in field recognized University in field of Mining, Geology, industry engineering, mechanical other related filed and at least 10 years experience for BSc degree or  8 years experience for MSc degree in Mining and energy  out of which 3 years in senior position
• Experience in mining and energy sector, Industry Regulation and Safety
• Direct practical experience mining of different minerals in mining company.
• Familiar with results chains and monitoring and evaluation frameworks
• Good Computer skills (in all Microsoft Office functions such as Excel, Access, power point and MS Words).
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English, Afaan Oromo and Amharic, good report writing and presentation skills is required.
