Job Description


GIZ BMM II Regional Integration cluster

The objective of the Better Migration Management (BMM) II program is to improve migration management in the Eastern African region in response to the needs identified by the African countries of the Khartoum Process, and to address the trafficking of human beings and the smuggling of migrants within and from the Horn of Africa in a rights-based and migrant-centered way.

 The BMM II programme has three components:

  •  Migration governance.
  •  Cooperation on Anti-Trafficking and Anti-Smuggling.
  •  Protection.

 The Programme is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-financed by the European Commission. It is envisaged to be implemented from October 2019 to September 2022. The implementation is facilitated through an Implementing Partnership consisting of IOM, UNODC, CIVIPOL, British Council, and the lead agency GIZ. The Programme’s intervention target countries are in the Horn

  • Duty station: Addis Ababa               

Responsibilities

  •  Assist implementing operational aspects of all issues related to the BMM project in Ethiopia.
  •  Assisting in maintaining a good flow of communication and information between all involved agencies, institutions, counterparts and GIZ.
  •  Filing documents in reference files or in DMS in line with GIZ’s filing rules.
  • Assisting the Regional Coordinator (RC) and Programme Coordinator (PC) and other programme staff in their administrative and support tasks, as directed.

The BMM Program Intern performs the following tasks:

 Project office work and services

  •  Organizes and coordinates appointments for BMM Programme staff, as directed
  • Organize and manage the BMM Monthly Coordination meeting
  • Assist the BMM M & E focal point in updating the BMM Annual Work Plan and Beneficiary Tracker.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing correspondences
  • Assist in preparing and organizing information materials for Programme staff, workshops, trainings and/or for meetings
  • Helps organize and document events, trainings meetings, workshops, and seminars
  • Helps in transcription and translation of interviews from Amharic to English
  • Helps prepare visitor programs and travel schedules with other BMM staff
  • Conducts research, as directed
  • Assist in organizational and administrative related tasks as well as other tasks related to the daily office routine.

 Administration and knowledge management

  • Creates an address file with important contact addresses and maintains the file.
  • Helps create and maintain a filing system for the project, treats information confidentially
  • Updates the filing system daily with incoming and outgoing correspondence.

 Other duties/additional tasks

  •   Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management.

Job Requirements

Required qualifications, professional experience, and additional competencies

 Qualifications

  • University Degree in Law or any Social Science field.

Professional experience

  • Fresh Graduate

 Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g., MS Office).
  • Good working knowledge of English
  • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
