Role and responsibilities

The purpose of the position is to support the logistics team on the warehouse and stock management, and contributes the team to deliver its roles and responsibilities at the highest standard of NRC logistics handbook.

Generic responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  • Follow proper standard of NRC archiving procedure and ensure warehouse documents archiving done properly on the system and in hardcopy
  • In charge  of mission’s stock management
  • Prepare and compile monthly stock reports
  • Analyses monthly stock report and provide feedback to area offices
  • Promote and share ideas for improvement of warehouse operation
  • Additional Responsibilities requested by the Line Manager

Specific responsibilities

  • Responsible for the mission’s stock management
  • Ensure the warehouse transactions (reception and issuance of goods) done as per procedure defined in the logistics handbook & SOP
  • Ensure physical count done for stocks at the end of fiscal years
  • Organize and follow-up the delivery of requested items in collaboration with procurement team
  • Analyze monthly logistics stock report and provide constructive feedback to the area office logistics
  • Ensure the quality of reports before submission
  • Perform other logistics functions as delegated by Logistics Manager

  • Experience of working as a Logistics officer in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Previous experience from working under pressure in emergency contexts
  • Excellent knowledge of English

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Ability to follow policies and procedures and work systematically
  • Able to use policies and procedures to solve problems, and be proactive in bringing ideas and solutions
  • Able to maintain good relations with colleagues and suppliers, even in difficult circumstances, always maintaining professionalism when representing NRC
  • Able to work in a team, and motivate others, and participate actively in team meetings and discussions
  • Able to analyze information, prioritize and take decisions and responsibility for those decisions
  • Excellent organization and planning skills
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Dynamic, energetic, and committed to NRCs work in Ethiopia
  • Keen to work in a busy environment, and take pride in working hard and achieving results
  • Strong computer skills, especially in Excel and use of email
  • Strong English language skills, both written and verbal
  • Bachelor’s Degree in procurement  and logistics or related field
  • 3 years’ experience in a procurement position preferably with NGOs
